The viewing angles are 90°/50° meaning that the picture will shift in contrast, brightness, and color when it’s viewed from skewed angles.

This AOC portable monitor offers a quick 5ms response time speed and a 60Hz refresh rate which makes for responsive gameplay without visible trailing or ghosting of fast-moving objects.

Moving on, the AOC E1659FWU has a foldable stand, so it’s easy for transportation and you can easily place it in either portrait or landscape position. It supports auto-pivot, so the screen will automatically adjust according to the orientation of the monitor.

Using the exclusive DisplayLink software, you can connect additional USB monitors to the laptop for multi-screen setup.

For a little bit of extra cash added to the price of the AOC I1659FWUX, you can get the ASUS MB169B+.

The AOC I1659FWUX is also based on a 15.6″ IPS panel with 1080p resolution, 160°/160° viewing angles, a 700:1 contrast ratio, a 5ms GtG response time, and a slightly lower 200-nit peak brightness.

Weighing only 1.76 lbs (800g) and only 0.33″ (8.5mm) thin, the ASUS MB169B+ portable monitor is definitely easier to carry around than the AOC model.

Moreover, the design features a sleek metallic finish. Via the ASUS EzLink Utility software, it supports auto-rotation and you can connect multiple USB monitors.

4: ASUS MB16AC – Mid-Range USB-C Travel Monitor

The ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC offers a bunch of exclusive features and a modern design which makes it worth the extra cost.

Here we have yet other 15.6″ 1080p IPS monitor with a 220-nit peak brightness and a slightly higher 800:1 contrast ratio.

Just like the MB169B+, it uses its protective magnetic case as a stand.

It comes with a pen, but it’s not a touch-pen, just a regular pen that you can use to put through the hole on the monitor which can then serve as a stand.

You will also get a USB-C to USB-A adapter with the monitor.

Finally, the ASUS MB16AC is the most lightweight and the slimmest portable monitor in this list, weighing only 1.71 lbs (780g) with 14.17″ x 8.89″ x 0.31″ (360mm x 226mm x 8mm) dimensions.

The ASUS ZenScreen Go MB16AP is the newer version of the ASUS ZenScreen MB16AC. It’s basically the same monitor, but with an integrated 7800mAh lithium-polymer battery.

Based on the same 15.6″ 1080p IPS panel with a 220-nit peak brightness and a contrast ratio of 800:1, you can expect a vibrant and crisp image quality.

Due to the integrated battery, the ASUS MB16AP is slightly heavier, weighing 1.87 lbs (850g). Its dimensions are 14.17″ x 8.8″ x 0.31″ (360mm x 226mm x 8mm).

Power consumption doesn’t exceed 9W.

If you need a portable travel monitor with a battery to power the screen for your mobile phone or a similar device, the ZenScreen is the way to go.

6: GeChic 1503I – Best Travel Touch-Screen Monitor

Want a touch-screen portable monitor? You’re definitely going to love the GeChic 1503I.

This 15.6″ 108p IPS portable monitor has a ten-finger multi-touch screen allowing you to enjoy all the advantages of a touch-sensitive display.

Note that the touch function isn’t supported on Macs.

The GeChic 1503I can get very bright, with a peak luminance of 250-nits while the contrast ratio is solid as well at 700:1.

The monitor is a bit bulkier than the previous few displays, but it’s still fairly lightweight, weighing only 2.34 lbs (1kg) without the stand and the cover.

It’s reasonably thick at 0.47″ (12mm) with the overall dimensions being 15.03″ x 9.68″ x 0.47″ (382mm x 246mm x 12mm).

The GeChic 1503I also features two 1W integrated speakers, a headphones jack, a micro-HDMI port, a VGA port, a rear dock port, and a USB-C port.

Additionally, the foldable stand has three height/angle positions, non-slip rubber protection, and the monitor is VESA mount compatible.

In order to use the VGA port, you will need to order the proprietary cable from GeChic. You also get an AC adapter with the monitor, in case your device isn’t powerful enough to power the screen.

Overall, the GeChic 1503I offers everything you might need from a travel monitor for a reasonable price.

7: GAEMS M155 – Best Budget Travel Monitor

The GAEMS M155 is the best portable monitor for gaming on a budget. It’s a USB-powered 1080p display with an HDMI 1.4 port, a 60Hz refresh rate, integrated speakers, and low input lag.

When it comes to the image quality, it’s a step down from the previous portable monitors as this display uses a TN panel.

So, you won’t have as wide viewing angles nor as vibrant colors, but the GAEMS M155 HDMI portable monitor provides a bright picture with crisp details, nonetheless.

On Amazon, you will also find the 720p version, so double-check you’re getting the model with a native 1080p resolution, not upscaled.

The display also has low input lag for the imperceptible delay between your actions and the results on the screen while the quick response time eliminates ghosting and smearing in fast-paced content.

Moving on, the GAEMS M155 weighs just under 2lbs (900g) while the dimensions are 15.75″ x 9″ x 0.6″ (400mm x 228mm x 15mm).

It also comes with a bag for the monitor and all the accessories. It can be powered via USB or via the provided AC adapter. There are a headphones jack, built-in speakers, an HDMI port, and a USB port.

8: GeChic 1503H

If you want better colors and viewing angles while gaming on the go, you will have to invest in the GeChic 1503H; it’s a bit pricier, but it’s worth it.

The GeChic 1503H may not have as a gamer-Esque vibe as the GAMES M155, but it’s definitely suited for gaming.

Thanks to its IPS panel with a peak brightness of up to 300-nits, the 1503H is the brightest portable monitor in our list.

It also boasts an excellent contrast ratio of 800:1 and wide viewing angles, however, it doesn’t have as low input lag nor as quick response time as the M155.

The difference in the input lag isn’t noticeable while there’s only minor ghosting visible in games which are expected – since TN panels generally have faster response times.

The design is essentially the same as that of the previously mentioned GeChic 1503I portable monitor including the detachable magnetic stand with three different angle/height positions.

It’s also VESA mount compatible and weighs only 1.75 lbs (798g) with total dimensions being 15.03″ x 9.68″ x 0.43″ (382mm x 246mm x 11m).

Connectivity includes dual 1W integrated speakers, a headphones jack, HDMI, VGA, and a USB-C port.

All in all, the GeChic 1503H delivers significantly better colors and viewing angles than the GAEMS model, but there’s a big jump in price which is why we recommend the M155 as a more cost-effective option. If you can afford the 1503H though, you won’t regret getting it.
